Canoeing Trip on the river Vltava
It was yet another summer of Czech Republic in August 2021 and we had no plan for upcoming weekend cause of covid cases, however me Amol and Shlok were despo to go somewhere within CZ. My son who was 6 year old back then wanted to go for camping and we had no prior experience with camping but then we thought lets do it. we randomly looked for upcoming organized camps within Czech Republic and came across the 3 days Canoeing and camping trip Organized by Rohlìk s Paštikou Adventures gruoup on Facebook. The trip looked well organized and many people were interested we quickly checked about all the formalities to join and made our last minute plan.
People started their journey towards Vltava river from Prague by train/car however we live in Brno so we accompanied them from Ceske Budejovice for our adventure in the southernmost tip of Bohemia to enjoy a relaxing weekend gliding down the river between fields of livestock and rock canyon walls or let me put it like beneath castle and castle ruins.
The plan was simple grab the paddle and roar your boat starting from the top of river Vltava but before that we had our snack and then the group arranged boats and other required stuff for canoeing, the group recommends to carry some equipment's like Tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, clothes for canoeing, shoes for canoeing, hat, sun screen, sun glasses etc. and we must carry those with us. we then transferred the luggage which we shall get to next halt so we choose our boat and that's it started canoeing.
we discovered most scenic section of Vltava river drifting peacefully through the picturesque medieval town of Český Krumlov, honestly I think my words cannot do justice to its scenic beauty and experience we had. Every evening we set the camp by the river and enjoyed the night under the stars around a campfire and then other day again we grabbed our paddle and started canoeing. There were in total 8 drops and drops here I mean are nothing but small waterfalls in the river and it was really fun but sometime it can be adventures too, well that reminds me the incident that happened. Two girls with us were having cute puppy with them and during the drop their canoe got flipped no one was inquired but they looked frightened specially girls were worried about puppy and one of the girl lost her beautiful pink sunglasses so here is a learning from others experience while canoeing we must carry safety waterproof pouches to carry cell phones, some currency in coins but important stuff that we can carry easily with us. And yes we need sunglasses all the time and needs to keep yourself hydrated all the time too.
There were no room to feel bored you will find many interesting people around with different attires, we came across one group of boys who were celebrating their bachelorette and their attire I will never ever forget :D also many prefers to ware sailing outfits. I found people exchanging or offering their homemade vines and other drinks they were carrying, we were communicating to other groups it was easy for them to know we are Indians so I would say we had all special attention there and had many interesting topics to exchange about culture while paddling the boat.
At last I would like to mention in case some small accident happens with your boat like in my case the air pressure was getting reduced from one side so it was difficult to balance canoe in water and my 6 year old who was sitting with his father in another canoe was continuously worried about me but we told him we just need to manage until next halt that was fortunately closer their we filled sufficient air into the boat.
On our last day Sunday we went for a tour around the city of Český Krumlov, which is considered one of the nicest towns in Czech republic, and visited the Českokrumlovský pivovar.
