“Pisa’s Leaning Tower: Defying Gravity with Architectural Grandeur”
Finally we figured out it is actually leaning :-D and to experience the leaning tower of Pisa we had to drive 7 hours starting from Slovenia's Bled Lake. Pisa city is located in northern part of central Italy in Tuscany region, torre is located in “Piazza dei miracoli” ( The most beautiful square in Italy)
Pisa Tower which is 53 meter tall leaning to one side made up of marble is beautiful to visit and we actually feel leaned while watching it. It is a bell tower and famous because it is vertical and declared a UNISCO World Heritage site in 1987. The fact that it is build on soft clay, shells and poor support to the weight of tower and thus the leaning worsened and worsened through years.
What's Inside ? To tell you the truth not much of anything! Most of part it is simply hollow and surrounded by its smooth marble walls. There is a staircase of 300 steps that will take you to top of tower where you can see bells and top view of outside but there isn’t anything there no one will tell you :-) You will regret purchasing a ticket to visit the inside area of the tower of PISA!
Other fun fact about Pisa is It was said that between 1589 and 1592, Galileo Galilei did his experiment regarding gravitational theory on the Leaning Tower of Pisa by droping two spheres of different masses on its side. Some argue that the experiment did not take place and was considered a thought experiment only, whatever the experiment did take place or not but this story adds to the fascinating history of the tower.
The seven bells at the top of tower represent a musical note from major scale and each having its unique tone and name. The Leaning tower has neighbors Cathedral square locally known as Piazza del Duomo.
To Admire the Duomo : Marble church the Duomo of Santa Maria Assunta is an example of Roman-pisan gothic architecture and made up of white marble completely.
Other things about Pisa ? → It is birthplace of famous Italian scientist Galileo Galilei who was born in Pisa. → University of Pisa : founded in 1343 is one of oldest and most highly respected in all of Europe. → Graffity by Keith Haring: Art Galary, Architectural landmark/Historical Landmark.. Tuttomondo is name of the Graffiti realized by Keith in 1989 for city of Pisa located near central station. Tuttomondo represents peace and harmony in the world.
To eat? Gelato: Pisa is full of good ice cream shops but best of all is “La Bottega del Gelato” a small gallateria located on Pizza Garibaldi near Arno river. there is nothing better than ordering an artisan gelato made with seasonal and fresh ingredients.
I would say if it is in someone’s bucket list and has to fulfill then one day trip or half day trip is enough to visit PISA.
